At New Flow Studio, we believe music can change lives. But sometimes, we meet youth who embody that belief in ways we could never predict.
AZ is one of those people.
A music artist in Tempe, AZ, AZ has survived more than his fair share: trauma, abuse, neglect, periods of homelessness — the kind of heavy story that most people never hear unless it’s on the news. But AZ doesn’t want pity. He wants progress. And when he found New Flow Studio, something lit up in him.
Here, AZ didn’t need a fancy resumé, money for gear, or years of music training. What he needed was a space to create — to express, to heal, and to connect. Our studio offers that: no-cost music mentorship, free recording sessions, and a judgment-free community of artists who believe in showing up — especially for those who’ve been left behind.
But one day, AZ showed up in a way none of us could’ve predicted.
He had been biking across Tempe to get to his recording session. He was excited. He’d been working on new lyrics and wanted to lay down a few takes. But halfway there — he crashed.
The accident was bad. Bruises, scrapes, his head hit hard enough that we later learned he might’ve suffered a mild concussion.
But AZ is determined.
“I’ve had worse. Let me get this take in. I need to.”
And he did.
He stepped into the booth, turned down the lights, and recorded a verse that quieted the room. Precision in his words. It was real.
At New Flow Studio, we’re not just a recording space — we’re a lifeline. We serve youth who need support, mentorship, and a creative home. AZ is just one of many powerful stories that walk through our doors.
If you believe in the transformative power of music, join us. Donate. Spread the word. Volunteer. Let’s give more youth the space to show up — no matter what they’ve been through.
